    EDIT: photos fixed

near Sangkhla Buri in the central-west region of
Thailand (within miles of Thai-Burma border), over a
period of two days in the area (arriving at noon,
leaving at noon the next day), there's a small town
where a hospital is located, probably the only
hospital in the entire area, with a few buildings
built near and around it (one in particular that we
stayed at), i was with a guy on a weeklong documentary
shoot in Bangkok, Tsunami-hit area of Phuket, and
finally this region before i had to get back to the
U.S. for school (he and another went on for a week), i
did mostly microphone work and still photography in
this location (in Bangkok i did mostly video, in
Phuket half video half B&W still photog)... only shot
42 photos on two rolls of Fujifilm Superia 400, all
but 3 turned out, no filters, with my manual Minolta
    SRT-101 and a wide-angle prime lens (only lens i
    brought), no post work

couple of hours in the hospital...

moved on to a mental illness place which freaked me
out, there was a pig squeeling the whole time and it
gave the place a weird atmosphere...

after a good 45 minutes or so (at least, it seemed
that long, probably only 30min) hit the road, well,
hit a dirt path in a truck, and went to a little area
these people we were interviewing worked at
occasionally, seemed like a location straight out of a
    Vietnam movie

the next day in the morning we shot lots of video at
the hospital, afterwhich began a long 7 hour drive
back to Bangkok, but before we really left the region,
the previous day we had worked out a possible
interview with an Australian lady, she picked the area
so our driver headed in that direction, another small
village, where she worked to help at a particular
    school (or something like that)

after 20 minutes or so there, we hop back into the van
and head on with one stop on the way back to Bangkok,
the Bridge on the River Kwai and a nearby cemetary,
now a tourist destination of sorts

and that's that, later that night i got back into
Bangkok, took a much needed shower, ate dinner, got in
a cab and went to the airport and flew back

  • Cool shots, number 4 is particularly freaky

  • You did an excellent job. These images totally give me a feel for the area and the daily routine of these people. Photojournalism at its finest.

    Well done!

  • omg....that 4th photo has me speechless, i seriously don't know what to say....wow

  • You should really be proud of this series, it was tough to get through the first few for me, which just means you hit the nail on the head with these. A very humbling series indeed.
