Your humour is too European to be understood by many ;)Here you go...release at the end of this month for 2600 and is basically a D3 fullformat sensor.

This link says more info will be made available tomorrow.I'll believe it when I see it rumors are just that rumors. People make stuff like this up all the time. Although it would be nice for Nikon to have a little more variety in it's upper end bodies.this is totally going to canibalize D3 sales. . .and it explains why the D300 has been dropping in price as well, almost at $1600!
I'm very excited for this Canon 5D competitor! Can you believe a company out there may actually favour low light performance over shipping over rated high pixel cameras and trying to compete with medium format?
But to equal a 10mp 1.5 crop, you have to have higher than 12mp. The Canon 1DsMKIII is something like 22MP and doesn't suffer from noise like certain smaller sensor cameras. As someone who has upper echelon contacts with various Nikon V.P.'s I can authenticate all of these rumors to be TRUE. All of the above mentioned products in this thread will be released.... within the next five years...The D700 has been released in France.

As well as the PC lenses and the SB-900 flash. All pages are in French.

http://www.focus-numerique.com/news_id-861.htmlI don't believe it. Only 12mp? on a FF sensor?
Can you believe the D3?I don't believe it. Only 12mp? on a FF sensor? The name Nikon, which dates from 1946, is a merging of Nippon Kōgaku (日本光学: "Japan Optical") and an imitation of Zeiss Ikon. Nikon is pronounced differently around the world. The Japanese pronunciation of the name is /nikoɴ/, but in the United States people also use /ˈnaɪkɒn/ and /ˈnɪkɒn/.[1
this is my point exactly... they are naming it the D700 because Ted Nikons (the president) favorite number is D700....
apparently he couldn't use it earlier because Phil Canon (the president of canon) trademarked the name D700 for his rock band... This was done out of spite and was a strategic blow to the moral of Ted Nikon and his employees
don't believe me???.... google it...-->nikonrumors.com
Has all the fresh rumours you need. As to the D700, I'm still not sure if this is true. It could really canibalize the D3 sales, unless a D3x/D4 is released at the same time.
An official Nikon announcement is going to be released on July 1st, so I guess we'll know more about new models etc soon. I personally hope that they look more at their lense lineup, especially the primes, than at FX bodies... I REALLY want them to make a new 50mm f1.4 (or even a f1.2), and a 35mm f2, 85mm f1.4 and 135mm f2.Something on the french page about an sb900 flash with dx/fx mode??thats cool..... if you want to authenticate the story of Phil Canon registering the name D700 all you have to do is google Nikon vs. Canon.... it's in there somewhere....
Fujio Mitarai is Canon's CEO and President.I tend to agree with the "old timer" Nikon guys:
- that the Dxxx format will stay cropped sensor
- that the Dx format will stay full frame
- that the next Dxxx is *not* going to be a D700, as if Nikon follows the current trend, the D300's successor wil be a D400, *if* they keep to the same game plan.
- and finally... that speculation is speculation... uneducated guesses made by people who have no clue about when the next model comes out. However, those that do know are NOT talking. If we follow Nikon's trends, the D300 is going to be around for at least another 10-16 months. In either case, there are no new relases coming soon.
So, the way I see it, people have 2 choices:
- they can waste time waiting for "the future"
- or they can purchase current technology as it stands today and enjoy it.
I bought my D200 about 75 days before the release of the D300, and I could not care less becuase I chose to have a camera 3 months earlier and have about 3500 pictures more than had I waited.
I refuse to play the "what-if" game. Thats a losing game where all you do is waste valuable time that could be spent being out there taking shots! :DYeah come on - ISO 25600. That's pretty bomb. The reason for the name D700??
that is the lucky number of Ted Nikon (the president)so the french get it first? Dammit.. . where are those freedom fries when you need 'em. . .
Freedom Fries to be found here (http://www.highsnobiety.com/home/the_daily_news/archive/2008/july/01/10_deep_murko_patriot_colorway/index.htm).I'm pretty sure all the buttons have gaskets, the card door, I'm not sure about, I bet it is, and the pop up flash, well the D200 is sealed and has a pop up flash.
If these D700's are under $3000, I'll be selling my D70/18-70 to help finance one of these. I can do without the 1/500th flash sync for a 35mm D300.Tasman.... both those names you mentioned are fictitious.... both Ted Nikon and Phil Canon came to an agreement in the early 80 to publicize oriental names for company presidents... the idea was that using oriental names promotes a smarter, more advanced image of the companies. OMG, I just spewed Coke all over my monitor!i just saw the video on photo numerique as well.. it doesn't look weather sealed? mon francais n' est pas beau?Tasman.... both those names you mentioned are fictitious.... both Ted Nikon and Phil Canon came to an agreement in the early 80 to publicize oriental names for company presidents... the idea was that using oriental names promotes a smarter, more advanced image of the companies. Wait, I thought David Olympus was the one they tried to put out of business, That's why he was forced to allow Andrew Panasonic to use his patented 4/3rds system.
Maybe we get our grain from different rumor mills.D 700 released.
Hands-on Preview at DP Review (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0807/08070103nikond700previewed.asp).where are those freedom fries when you need 'em. . .
I think you will find them with your heath care system............:er:i'd really be surprised if this D700 is going to be using the exact same chassis as the D300.
I really don't' think the D300's prism housing is big enough for a 35mm size sensor and I really doubt it would have onboard flash...seems fishy to me.
I guess we'll know in 2 days...
a D90 excites me more considering how old the D80 is.The reason for the name D700??
that is the lucky number of Ted Nikon (the president)
Thats funny, I googled Nikons President, it is Michio KARIYA , CEO and President of Nikon. I havent found Canon's Presdent yet.I don't understand why it would be D700 and not D400...
Because it's a new class of camera. Just like the Canon 5D wasn't called a 20D.
That said I am sick of rumours. Only last week it was rumoured to be called a D10 which makes more sense to me. I wonder if this is idle fakery like the rumours of the 50mm AV-S f/1.2 VR which keep cropping up every so often with pictures and all. At the very least this one makes sense and is probably coming. I just wish the rumour mill would decide on a name for it.
I say remove photoshop from the world and we'll see just how many rumours disappear.this is totally going to canibalize D3 sales. . .and it explains why the D300 has been dropping in price as well, almost at $1600!
I'm very excited for this Canon 5D competitor!
The price on the D300 has not come down in Canada at all.The name Nikon, which dates from 1946, is a merging of Nippon Kōgaku (日本光学: "Japan Optical") and an imitation of Zeiss Ikon. Honestly? Lmao .
In that case, why not name the very first camera he brought out the D700? :greenpbl:so the french get it first? Dammit.. . where are those freedom fries when you need 'em. . .The guy at my local pro shop insists that Nikon will be releasing it in the next couple weeks. My boss seems to believe him, but he also believed that the 5D was coming out on April 22nd. Rumor are rumors, wait until you hear something directly from the horses mouth.Yeah the D10 would make more sense since Nikon released their battery grip for the D300 and named it the MB10 - and from what I've seen, that usually aligns (the later portion of the nomenclature) with the model name. . .I guess time will only tell. . .the smart consumer will do this: INVEST IN LENSES (maybe FX lenses) and wait until it all shakes out in 2009.I don't believe it. Only 12mp? on a FF sensor?
Can you believe a company out there may actually favour low light performance over shipping over rated high pixel cameras and trying to compete with medium format?I don't understand why it would be D700 and not D400... :confused:If that rumour's true, it'll be fantastic to see a Canon 5D competitor. But I can't understand why Nikon would name it the D700. I mean, D1000, yes, a new digit for a new camera range. D500, maybe, but D700? It's the kind of "in-between" number that no-one likes at parties .Thanks for steering this rumor thread in the proper direction. Expect to see some goodies coming out before the Olympics though, and with them drawing closer, these rumors could be true.
I really like the one about the Canon 3D, the affordable pro-body that Canon was supposed to release. Yeah, affordable pro body.... realisitic...As someone who has upper echelon contacts with various Nikon V.P.'s I can authenticate all of these rumors to be TRUE.
ahem......#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
