Atheists, are you ever offended when theists ridicule your beliefs?

  • Like when someone posts a picture which stereotypes atheists, or is intended to offend you?

  • Theists don't ridicule my beliefs, they misrepresent them, misinterpret them, and mischaracterize me... I've never met someone who understands evolution yet disagrees with it.

  • No, because I only get offended when I'm insulted by someone whose opinion I respect (usually because they're right). Being insulted by a Christian is like being called a poopyhead by your 4-year-old nephew.

  • Atheists have tormented my beliefs and i care for them.
I am concerned that they are going to hell.
and every time i preach i am persecuted .

I felt so badly of it and began thinking of my death and i was scared.

Its like charitably giving money to a man that was punching you in the face.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10

A Christian man told me that verse.

    I almost cried.

My eyes were opened for the second time.

No matter how much they make fun of my belief , i will never stop believing.

    Atheists are quitting.
They are scared to go to hell , so they fool themselves into believing that there is no hell... they are quitters.

  • No.

Generally because they have no basis in fact. What is does is show how weak their arguments are, and how desperate they are.

  • What beliefs?

  • No, i just see it as ignorance on their part.

  • Beliefs? You mean my singular disbelief in the existence of a god or gods?

Real big belief-set I have there, ne?

I feel sorry for people theists, truthfully. Probably more sorry for them than they think they are for me.

  • Especially if they do it to my face, or me personally. I really do find writing lies about people, or 'groups' of people, to be majorly offensive. Doesn't humanity learn from history? It may be non-PC for Christians to condemn and demonize Jews or pagans these days, but they did, for centuries. Now it seems it;s the homosexuals and atheists turns.

Many theists condemn atheism as if it is an evil in the world, yet they continue to live in secular countries and enjoy the benefits of freedom from and for religion.

I do find basic human intellect and decency offended regularly by religious fundamentalists...

  • Why would I care what stupid people think? I make the assumption that if they try to offend me then it's because they have no argument against my unbelief in God.

    I think that makes sense.

  • I live in Georgia. If I let ignorance offend me, I would be a very unhappy person.

    Life is too short.

  • What atheist beliefs do they ridicule?

They ridicule their own beliefs and don't even know it.

They can say, for example, that Jesus rose into the sky and became a god.
That is really wacky, and it just casts ridicule on their whole belief system.
    .

  • Never. Especially when you consider the source.
I mean after all, if a person can be so silly as to believe so strongly in such fantastic fairy tales as an adult, it's laughable.

  • No you see i have this thing called a sense of humour, i however do not like ignorant bigots.

  • I frequent their websites & talk with them often... I understand their confusion. I only hope I can help educate them!

  • im like half ahteist....i do not beleive in religion, but i DO believe in god sort of ......but i dont get offended because religion is a personal thing..and by not having a religion i free myself of that stress

  • what beliefs?

haha j/k, i am a little offended when people think that atheism=amoral, but not too much. any kind of bigotry annoys me, though.

  • No, I just think it's childish. Not worth being offended over, it's not like a theist that pathetic warrants any respect.

  • Only if it's in person.
In which case I just wait a few minutes until they start screaming their heads off and making a scene.

  • Atheism is really a system of non-belief, and therefore hard to ridicule. As for pictures that stereotype atheists - hard to imagine such an image.

  • I have no beliefs, so no.

  • Why would they get upset, because someone did to them what they do to others?

  • I don't ridcule Atheists beliefs, they don't have any

  • no, not at all, I don't know anybody on this site, why should I care what a bunch of strangers say about me.

  • Being an atheist does not include any beliefs. For example, a dog does not beleive in any gods. Not believing in something is not a belief.

  • atheists don't have any specific beliefs, so...no.

  • Yes. Some people on here presume that because I dont believe in any god it means I take drugs, have sex with strangers, get drunk every night, swear at people etc etc.

  • No, I am not offended by the ridiculing of my beliefs. I find those actions are feeble attempts to discredit Atheism.

  • Not at all...

It's all a part of the R&S game.

Those who can't "hang", catch the "Ramadan" forum.

  • No, not at all.

  • The word "belief" would suggest we blindly follow a way of thinking.

  • offended no, but do i get my word in edgways and correct them?
    yes
    why?
    because i can
