Acupuncture or massage ?

  • My mother works long hours using her wrist and shoulders and I would like to remedy her muscle pains by taking her to one of the clinics. Which would be more beneficial for her ? she is in her mid 40's Or would it be safe to say both?

  • Massage is great if you have sore muscles or tension. Acupuncture is great for actual illnesses or inuries.

  • A massage is a good way of relieving tension and muscle pain. There are different types of massages and knowing the right technique for her is key.

I searched about your case (wrist and shoulders and this is what I found:

    Trigger Point Therapy:
It talks about referred pain and that pain on the actual sight felt may not necessarily be the origin.

But since you mentioned working long hours then it is probably a "wear and tear" kind of thing.

There are other relaxation massages for this type also like the Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage.

It is very kind of you to think of your mother that way. So Included the source site from from where I've read these things. You might want to read them yourself.

One thing to keep in mind though, make sure you have a licensed massage therapist to ensure an effective result and not the other way around

  • Both things can deal with muscle pain very effectively. Try both and see which one gets the best results for her.

  • Massage would be better.

  • massage first...then in the next day or 2 do the acupuncturist.

I have had 14 surgeries in 42 yrs and a massage is purfect at any age. It just makes you melt and become one with the table, so to speak..
Accupunture allowed me to walk up right and ease my pain. It took 3 months but worth every needle.

If you have the $$$ do it.
She will start doing it herself.

  • Get massage from someone who understands MFR release points its like the best of both worlds massage and acupuncture techniques without the needles.
