Samba Audio freeze

firstly...great software..i've been using it for a few weeks and am totally impressed. however today i started to expand things and setup a file share on one of my xp servers. i setup the smb entry in xbmc and was able to scan and add the album. everything looked to be going smooth until i start playing tracks from the album. plays perfectly for a couple of minutes and then just stops.. xbox freezes and am unable to do anything apart from reboot it. i've simplified things by not running any visualisations but it still happens. when running audio from a cd in the xbox it doesn't freeze. streaming as opposed to smb also freezes.
i'm running version 2004.06.04 and i'm playing mp3 from my server.
i've tried all skins and all react the same way.
i hope someone can help as this is an awesome bit of kit and accessing a share to my mp3 collection was the only bit i really needed to work.

audio freezes and i left the xbox without rebooting for a minute ..all of a sudden it starts streaming the next track in the album even though the previous track finished way short.

think it may be my xp server... have run successfull wireless tests using my laptop as the mp3 host and it runs like a dream. only difference is the xp server is the only machine on 11b wireless where everything else is 54g.
trip to pc world in the morning :lol:
now start a mp3 playing on your xbox. when it stops playing see if the ping drops out.
other things to check are if the user your xbox is using within windows drops off when the mp3 stops.
why dont you hardwire the xbox to the server and see if that makes a difference?
