I need information on human hearing and sound localization?

  • For my science project, I am blindfolding someone and making a sound or two in different locations. I am trying to see if they can approximately determine the location of the sound with only using their hearing.

  • You will need more than one or two, because our ability to localize differs between the horizontal and vertical planes, and also depends upon frequency - high pitch is easier to localize.

A clicker is probably the easiest sound to use.
Have the subject point to the apparent source and plot those responses. Be sure the blindfold doesn't cover the ears.
