» D40 ?

i have been at photography for a month now and i feel my current camera is holding me back. I have a Canon Powershot s3. I was looking at the D40 because it currently is the only camera that is in my price range. Isaw a post on here that said it lacks an af motor and was wondering what that means. thanks.it means that it cant auto focus surtan lens such as the famed Nikon 50mm f/1.8 u will have to auto focus that but lens such as the 18-55, 55-200 VR, 18-200 VR, etc will auto focus. All lens with AF-S in the name will auto focus which is most if not all of the newer lensthank you. There's definitely more in the D40 price range, and better IMO. The D70 for starters, and that's just Nikon. The D40 isn't the cheapest DSLR, anyway, I've s...... - 2009-07-03

» Qualifying Jobs with ASVAB score?

I got 66 on my ASVAB and I want to join the Air Force. Can anyone give me a list of Jobs I qualify for!No. To tell you what jobs you qualify for, your recruiter needs to know your MAGE scores. Those scores are based off all of the subtests on the ASVAB, and tell you what jobs you qualify for. 66 is pretty good, though, and you should qualify for a good variety of jobs. Can't tell ya, with just an overall asvab score. You need your line scores: Administrative Mechanical General Electronic Those four scores are what are used to determine what jobs you qualify for.The above answers are correct. You need your scores broken down. 66 Is pretty good though....... - 2009-07-03

lately ive been having extreamly weird realistic dreams. Lat night i was sleeping in my car which i often do. it took me a while to get to sleep in the first place i was just reading my msgs on my phone. i had a dream that i was lying in my car and a man was walking down the road towards my car. i hid under the covers and he walked up to the car and taped on my window. i told him to go away or something. he was asian and has brown dreadlocks. he told me he wanted to sleep with me and i said no. i made sure all of the doors were locked and went back to sleep. when i woke i saw him sitting in the front seat of my car. when i woke to see him i didnt know if it was a dream or real. i told him to get out again and for some reason he had my key...... - 2009-07-03

» Can banks take money under TARP and then turn around and pay out these funds as dividends?

If so, isn't the government "bailout" being used to unjustly enrich shareholders in banks? Where's the mandate that the funds are to be used for lending to borrowers - instead of enriching shareholders. Even if you subscribe to "trickle down", the idea that this aspect of TARP will somehow benefit the economy seems extremely far fetched from reality. Well based on Paulson's shoveling the money wherever he wants and failure to attach strings...I'd say yes. There was supposed to be transparency as far as the decision making process and what is done with the money. Paulson has ignored this part of the law. Based on this I think I should get at least a $5 million bailout. I promise I will help the economy more th...... - 2009-07-03

» Why can't I do cross overs?

Been trying really hard to do cross overs. It seems though that whenever I try to cross my skate over the other, the foot always starts to point off in the opposite direction... away from the turn... and it is EXTREMELY tough to even get my feet to cross. While running, a personal trainer spotted me and what looked like an extremely tight IT band (Iliotibial band that connects your hip to your knee on the outside of your thigh). Does anyone think this can be the problem? I did not ask the trainer because I didn't think of it then. It would kinda make sense... if the IT band was really tight, it would keep my leg from crossing the midline. Any thoughts?See a physical therapist. Even if somebody here was one, it would be very ha...... - 2009-07-03

No, his extremely hot girlfriend seems to think so as well. I guess it could just be because he is a successful Cup Series driver, though? » New biosensor detects avian influenza in just minutes

New biosensor detects avian influenza in just minutes Published: Friday, 28-Sep-2007 Quick identification of avian influenza infection in poultry is critical to controlling outbreaks, but current detection methods can require several days to produce results. A new biosensor developed at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) can detect avian influenza in just minutes. In addition to being a rapid test, the biosensor is economical, field-deployable, sensitive to different viral strains and requires no labels or reagents. "We can do real-time monitoring of avian influenza infections on the farm, in live-bird markets or in poultry processing facilities," said Jie Xu, a research scientist in GTRI's Electro-Optical Systems ...... - 2009-07-03

» So Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Jimmie Johnson dominated this season, so was it good for the sport?

These 3 guys dominated the season, between them, they had a combined 24 wins in Cup. That 2/3 of the Cup season. Guys that yearly get wins didn't get them this year. (Ex: Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, etc.). Mainly cause the season was dominated by those 3 men. So did the domination of the Big Three hurt or help NASCAR as a sport?I think for NASCAR, yes, it was good. It was real good for NASCAR since the sport got a lot of attention because of each of the three, especially Carl and Kyle at Bristol. But I personally didn't enjoy it as a fan. I felt like several drivers like Gordon, Harvick, and Kenseth deserved at least one or two wins. I hope we see a bunch of drivers win next year, not just a few.I think a lot of people assum...... - 2009-07-03

» What is the best way to deal with someone who is a smarta** know-it-all?

I work with a fellow who fancies himself as being really smart and provocative and fascinating to be around. The reality is that he is a pseudo-intellectual tool who refuses to shut up. When you tell him to leave you alone, he views that as some sort of challenge, and he launches into an "I'm too important to be silenced" mode. He feels that he needs to "enlighten" us with some sort of "truth" that only he knows. How do you deal with someone who is that insecure and ignorant? Then again, his narcissism and delusions may be so severe that it is impossible to be reasonable with him. So have been there. It's so annoying! For the most part, you can't really reason with people like that. Just try and have the least amount of ...... - 2009-07-03

» Song: You've Got to Be a Football Hero (or You've Gotta etc)

I'm interested in the history/background of this song from 1933. It was written by Al Lewis, Al Sherman and Buddy Fields. The sheet music has a photograph of a now-obscure female singer. I had assumed that it either was written for a Broadway show or a movie, but I can't find it in a movie until it surfaced as the title song of a Popeye cartoon in 1935. I've heard that it was popularized by Rudy Vallee but if so, he didn't seem to record it. I have a 1933 recording by Irving Aaronson & the Commanders with Harmon Nelson doing the vocal.Grandvenise -- The correct title is "You Gotta Be a Football Hero (To Get Along With the Beautiful Girls). What are some friendship quotes that would be good to put on a picnik photo??"Never shall I forget the days I spent with you. Continue to be my friend, as you will always find me yours." - Ludwig van BeethovenYou're not friends because you sit together at lunch or talk on the phone or have matching flip flops or you can recite each other's wardrobe. You're best friends because when she smiles, a grin forces itself across your face, no matter whow made you are. When she cries, you instantly feel her pain and want to cry with her. When you look her in the eyes you know there is no one you could ever trust more regardless of how many broken hearts you have had. That is what it means to be best friends ...... - 2009-07-03

» Does drinking alot of water after drinking alot of alcohol help? ?

Like before I go to bed should I drink a water bottle of wateR?Sure, it could always help.Yes. It dilutes the amount of alcohol in your blood.Definitely. You should in fact be taking 1 glass of water for every drink you had. The best way to do this is throughout the night, but it's not always possible. Alcohol dries you up, which means it takes water to metabolise. If you don't have any water in your system it will steal it from your body which is why you wake up in the morning with a pounding headache and cotton mouth.Water won't make you any less drunk. The only thing that helps with sobering up is time. But drinking a bottle of water before you go to bed is definitely helpful, because when you drink, you get dehy...... - 2009-07-03

A fork. If you need a spoon, it's overcooked.Depends in my mood. If I make it creamy with a bechamel cheese sauce starter, I use a spoon. If it's a bit on the dry side, I use a fork. Guilty admission, but if it can't be eaten with a spoon (or fingers) why eat it? Spoons are good. xspoon, i can scrape the extra cheese out of the bowl when i'm done =]Fork. I was watching the England vs New Zealand rugby match on the 29th (on Sky Sports) and the commentators had a lot of issues with Alain Rolland's refereeing. I thought he was very good and controlled the game very well it seemed like the teams had come out with the intention of breaking the laws and he prevented them from doing so. What did you think?Yes he did control the game very well and, at long last, nailed England for playing the boring, illegal rugby they have become renowned for. Where nearly all of the rugby world is trying to speed up the game England commit and endless ammount of fouls to slow it down; once again they paid the price. i started with the default skin (pmiii) from cvs and started editing and adding things. now when i enter a settings category, for example my videos. i get this error multiple times in the log and it sounds like the hard drive is continually writing or reading. it's not the writing to the log since it does this with log level set to 2. 03-03-2006 23:34:58 error keymapping error: no such action '-' defined i can use the default settingscategory.xml and it still does this, so somewhere in my skin i've messed something up. i'm trying to change in, my individual files until it does this, but i thought if anyone had any ideas i would ask. i am set to 720p for both defaults in the skin.xml. i am up to date with cvs and the keymap.xml file (no...... - 2009-07-03

» What do you think is the best song Jonas Brothers ever released?

Linkin Park > Jonas Brotherswhen you look me in the eyes. and not because it's popular and on TV, but because of how well it is done. the lyrics are amazing, the way all three of them sang just came together, everything flowed... and everybody can relate to it! i love that song so much.Burning up or Mandy..lol I was obsessed with Mandy when I was like 12. haha, like 4 years ago...old song. I don't care for them too much anymore though.the song- i wanna hang myself because my music sucks so much and were a product of a company that only has the interest in making a large profit while the people of America suffer due to the Economy what is that one, the like last one that they'll ever put out... that will be the best ......... - 2009-07-03

» Why has it taken science thousands of years to do what Jesus did?

Jesus raised the dead, and people thought that was impossible. But thousands of years later, we can raise the dead...as long as they havent been dead more than like 5 minutes or something like that. :) Jesus healed the sick, and for thousands of years, people would die of disease, until science made medicines that can cure/help sicknesses and diseases. So why did it take science so long to do what Jesus did? 2008 Year of St. PaulFor a religious nut you have a point. For example, Jesus cured the blind. We are on the verge of gene therapies to cure people of an eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa. A few years back I think an atheist might have said-Jesus curing the blind was simply a con...the guys weren't blind but plants. But now as...... - 2009-07-03

» Acupuncture or massage ?

My mother works long hours using her wrist and shoulders and I would like to remedy her muscle pains by taking her to one of the clinics. Which would be more beneficial for her ? she is in her mid 40's Or would it be safe to say both? massage first...then in the next day or 2 do the acupuncturist. I have had 14 surgeries in 42 yrs and a massage is purfect at any age. It just makes you melt and become one with the table, so to speak.. Accupunture allowed me to walk up right and ease my pain. It took 3 months but worth every needle. If you have the $$$ do it. She will start doing it herself. A massage is a good way of relieving tension and muscle pain. There are different types of massages and knowing the right technique for h...... - 2009-07-03

» I'm sick...questionnn???

I went to the doctor on friday and they said i had tonsilitis. But, I havent gotten any better and my strep test came back negative. My throat is really sore, tonsils swollen, white puss pockets on my throat, fever no more than 99.8, bad head ache, very nauseated, and I cant taste food when I eat it. What do you think is wrong with me? Please help...and thank you! :]You already went to the doctors, you need to wait longer! I hope you feel better! If the antibiotics are not helping it could be 2 things. 1. It's not a bacterial infection. It's a virus. Those can last 7 to 10 days. 2. The antibiotic is not working. The antibiotic could be causing the nausea and weird taste and headache. Those could also be apart of the...... - 2009-07-03

» Twin Lens Reflex Cameras

I was hoping between you knowledgeable bunch you could comprise a list of twin lens reflex medium format cameras for me so I can look them up and possibly buy one. Some I will have heard of and some I know of but it will help refresh my meory. Any help would be great. List So far - Yashicamat 124GI have a Yashicamat 124G and I love it.It all depends upon what you intend using the camera for. I have a Mamiya C330 Pro that I love and cherish.Less expensive than a Rolleiflex are the Rolleicords. They can come with the Schneider lenses and give you beautiful negatives for less than half the price of a 'flex. :) Or a well-used Rolleiflex that just needs some TLC might do the trick - tons of them out there! There is a Yashica D for sale rig...... - 2009-07-03

» Is at&t new uverse internet speed faster than cable?

is at&t new uverse elite internet speed a dsl? or is it faster than my current cable internet speed of 6mbpsWait till FiOS becomes standard and it will blow cable and dsl away. Cable is shared bandwidth so your speed fluctuates. Last I knew with DSL it depends on how far you are from a hub or central office as to what speed you get. I don't know everything, but I do know you are doing the right thing by not asking Cable or AT&T. They both have a product to sell and will put their best foot forward. You will have to know what to ask them to get them to tell you anything negative, and they will polish up those answers too. One thing I can tell you is to stay with cell phones and landlines vs. cable internet phones. I was g...... - 2009-07-03

» Is the wii messing my tv or is it because of the age ?

i have an eight year old tv it has been working great until i got my wii. my tv has green shadows around every thing and is really unclear. i heard that if you put your wii next to the tv it will happen and my wii is next to my tv. it this happening because the wii is next to my tv or is it because the tv is old. what should i do.The Wii being next to the TV has nothing to do with it. Is the TV like this only when you play on the Wii or all the time? If it is like this all the time, it is due to your TV's age and some component of it is having issues. My Tv is only 3 yrs old and it does the same thing. It may have to do with the sensor bar position too. After I mived mine to the top of the Tv it kind of stopped.I think your wii and othe...... - 2009-07-03

» Am I the only one who feels sorry for myself?

My best friend's birthday is this month and her boyfriend bought her two tickets to the Project Revolution Tour. Linkin Park is headlining with My Chemical Romance and a bunch of other bands. I have no interest in the whole emo/goth/punk for the preppy kids scene. But I've already used up every excuse in the book (I don't have the money to go, don't have a sitter). She really wants me to go. I already plan on getting plastered. What else can I do to take my mind off the blaring music?Let me start by saying I'm 29 and LOVE Linkin Park and Chemical Romance, have all the CD's. Since you'll be getting loaded up that the show you could always start a mosh pit, if they still do those now LOL. Just have a good t...... - 2009-07-03
